It’s no surprise that Laura Dern has more on her mind that her latest film. A quick check of her filmography shows someone with an activist bent and a willingness to take chances in her choice of roles. What was most refreshing in chatting with her on July 20, 2004, was discovering that her passion for social justice was unquestionably passionate, but not strident. As for her latest film, WE DON’T LIVE HERE ANYMORE, it’s one of of the meatiest roles she’s had in years, as well as being one of the most honest, and most disturbing looks at the emotional landscape of marriage ever seen.
NB: The cinematographer, whose name we failed to mention while talking, is Maryse Alberti.
