Jennifer Westfeldt has an original way of seeing the world and it’s reflected in her films. In KISSING JESSICA STEIN, which she co-wrote and in which she co-starred with Heather Juergensen she pondered the possibilities of straight women seeking meaningful romantic relationships with other women. In FRIENDS WITH KIDS, which she wrote, directed, and in which she co-stars, she ponders having children with a best friend rather than a romantic partner. When I spoke to her on February 23, 2012, she talked thoughtfully and with a gracious wit about challenging paradigms, her refreshingly original approach to the story. in which there are no villains and no judgments when it comes to finding the right path, and the strides women have made as filmmakers. We finished by her humoring my curiosity about the amazing permutations of hairdos displayed by co-star Adam Scott.
